Black Stone came from Jannah when Hazrat Adam was sent to this world as a punishment. Allah made Black Stone a source of getting direction for worship. It is said that Hazrat Adam built the Kabah for the first time through directions that Allah provided him with the help of Black Stone. Its actual name is Hajra e Aswad. It is known as Black Stone as it has turned Black.
Why Allah gave Black Stone to Adam?
Allah gave Black Stone to Hazrat Adam because making mistakes is the nature of human beings. Allah is very kind to His creatures and has provided a chance to get rid of sins and mistakes. Hazrat Adam kissed this stone to get rid of sins. Black stone absorbs all the sins of a person and makes him pure like a new born baby. There are many other steps in Hajj and Umrah that make pilgrims pure.
What is the historical significance of Black Stone (Hajra Aswad)?
It is said that angel Hazrat Jibrael brought this stone from Jannah to this earth. Hazrat Adam built an altar with the help of directions provided by this stone. It was kept in the corner of Holy Kabah. In the storm of Noah, it got vanished, but Hazrat Jibrail again found it and it was again kept in the corner of Holy Kabah. Another time, it was again placed in the corner of Kabah when Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail built Holy Kabah.
How did Prophet resolve the issue of Black Stone?
In the era of Hazrat Muhammad (ﷺ) there arouse a need to keep the Black Stone in the corner of Holy Kabah. Head of every tribe of Makkah was willing to place the Hajra Aswad in corner of Holy Kabah. Holy Prophet resolved this issue and saved tribes from a big fight. He gave an idea upon which all the heads agreed. Prophet Muhammad kept the Black Stone in the eastern corner of Kabah.
What was the actual shape and color of Black Stone?
Black Stone is an oval shaped stone that was not actually black in color. It was white in color. Due to the sins of people who touch and kiss it, its color has turned black. As it is taken from Jannah, Prophet Muhammad also kissed it. Hazrat Umar (second Caliph) also kissed it due to the reason that Holy Prophet kissed it. It washes away all the sins of a person who kisses it.
Why Prophet Muhammad kissed the Black Stone?
Prophet Muhammad kissed the Black Stone due to its sanctity. It will speak for the forgiveness of those people who kiss it. Prophet Muhammad told about the importance of Black Stone and also explained the reason why it has turned black. Holy Prophet recommended people to perform Hajj and Umrah and kiss the Black Stone.
What is the present condition of Black Stone?
It was a single stone that has been converted into eight small pieces. These stones have been joined together to make a single large stone. It has been kept in an oval shaped silver color protection. It also gives a look of dark red color mixed with Black. Muslims start their Tawaf from the line of this stone and also end it on the same line.
